SAFETY

The felpad attached below our Colsen fire pits is enough to dissipate/absorb/block any heat generated by your firepit. This means, it provides sufficient protection for nearly any surface; so yeah! You can place it basically anywhere.

It won’t, as stated before, the felpad attached below our Colsen fire pits would avoid any scratching or damaging to the surface.

We have never gotten any complains regarding one of our fire pits setting off a sprinkler. Usually, sprinklers go off when they receive heat of 155-165 degrees. Obviously, air above Colsen Fire Pits is warmer than ambient temperature, but it would still have to be right under the sprinkler and very close by for it to go off. In any regular house with medium to high ceilings, this shouldn’t happen.

We usually recommend that after using it and refilling it for 2 times (Aprox. 2 Hours) you let it sit and cool down for around half an hour. The concrete we use at Colsen withstands very high temperatures, but it could get hot for you to touch it. Also, when concrete es hotter, the alcohol would burn quicker and loose efficiency. Therefore let it cool down after 2 refills to avoid this and get our Colsen Fire Pits maximum potential.

Never attempt to blow the fire out. Just set a heat resistant surface on top of the firepit hole for a few seconds and the flame will be deprived of oxygen. We recommend using a stone drink coaster, but anything with this characteristics work.

No! 100% NO! Nothing flammable should ever be added to a live flame in our fire pits. Ever.

Yes, it does get hot. Still, it is not like the glass of candles, cement doesn’t have good thermal conductivity, meaning if you touch it, it will feel hot, but it will not burn.

No, we do not recommend that at all. Colsen Firepits are ONLY meant to be used with isopropyl rubbing alcohol.

Yes! 100%. Isopropyl alcohol creates a complete combustion when burned. What does this mean? It means that in ventilated spaces soot will not be a problem as it will only be where the flame touches and there won’t even be any carbon monoxide.

Obviously, being a flammable liquid, isopropyl alcohol will spread (while lit) over a surface if spilled. This should never happen, but if it ever does, we recommend you not to panic. Simply look for a fire extinguisher and put the fire out.

We have created our Colsen Firepits Fire to be as stable as possible. That said, any liquid in an open container can spill if used incorrectly. For this reason we insist that you only place our firepits onstable surface, like a table.

Only responsible adults should light Colsen firepits up. Kids, as with everything, will be as safe as the parents taking care of them allow them to be. Our firepits are for everyone, kids or adults! But please, always have a good judgement when around fire. Colsen Firepits provide an amazing ambience, and under supervision, kids will have a fun time not only enjoying the fire but also roasting marshmallows and eating s’mores.

Of course! The only gassing produced by isopropyl alcohol when burned is water vapor and carbon dioxide! meaning it is totally safe and your food will taste amazing!

SETUP AND CARE

First, when received, read instructions and warnings. Place your firepit (above the base included on package) on a stable surface away from anything flammable to avoid accidents. Use our 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and fill your fire pit no more than around 1 inch from the border. Light it using a long lighter (the ones used for a grill). Once it’s on, enjoy!

Once your fire pit cools down, we usually separate it from the base below and wash it with water and soap… It should clean out pretty easily.

We strictly recommend using 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. Still, 70% also works well with our products. We also DO NOT recommend using 99%.

Depending on the environment temperature… But on average, you can expect it to last between 45-65 minutes.

It can take more time for 70% alcohol to light as it contains 30% water. If cold, we recommend holding the lighter very close for a bit until it eventually lights. It will light… We guarantee!

Not much… It is really only felt if you are quite close.

Never attempt to blow the fire out. Just set a heat resistant surface on top of the firepit hole for a few seconds and the flame will be deprived of oxygen. We recommend using a stone drink coaster, but anything with this characteristics work.

Very good actually. The wind will almost never blow the fire out. Still, be cautious when there is a big amount of wind… it has a chance of blowing the alcohol out of the fire pit.
